ABOUT ME

My name is Ashley Hope Cournoyer-Smith, and I work as a school psychologist within an urban district in Massachusetts. Growing up as the daughter of a young mother, I had the privilege of observing my younger sisters’ growth and development. This experience ignited my passion for helping, understanding, and advocating for children.

The written word has served as an emotional outlet for me, whether through recreational reading or the act of writing poetry. These life experiences led me to pursue a career in school psychology and become a children’s book author.

One of my core childhood memories includes reading a children’s book with my mother and a therapist, which helped me understand my family’s composition. That experience is a testament to the power of children’s books as a tool for equipping caregivers with the language to address various needs children may have.

I was born in and lived my formative years in Rhode Island before moving to Massachusetts. I currently live in Connecticut with my husband and our dog. I am passionate about brain health, physical wellness, lifelong learning, cooking, and nature. I spend my time reading, listening to podcasts, taking walks, and spending quality time with family and friends.
